Watershed Projects Preserve Water Quality
In Chatfield Reservoir, the greatest concern is the amount of nutrients and sediment. Nutrients, found in fertilizers and frequently bound up in sediments, limit the amount of algae that can grow in lakes. As the amount of algae and sediment increases, the water is less clear. Watershed projects implemented by the Authority work to Preserve Water Quality in the Chatfield basin and reservoir.
Water Quality & Habitat Improvements at Massey Draw Near Chatfield Reservoir
Chatfield Watershed Authority fosters partnerships with Urban Drainage and Flood Control District (UDFCD) and local jurisdictions to promote water quality, improve habitat and reduce sediment erosion in the watershed. Severe sediment erosion in lower Massey Draw contribute d pollutants to the reser voir; after construction the streambank is stabilized, pollutants reduced, and habitat improved.
